Summer is sadly coming to an end soon, but here’s the good news! The first day of autumn is 55 days away, Halloween is 89 days away, Thanksgiving is 111 days away, and Christmas is 144 days away!! Okay, I’ll try not to get ahead of myself here, but I’m super excited.
One of my favorite things about autumn besides pumpkin spice lattes and chunky sweaters must be looking at the new trends and applying them to my wardrobe. Here at Reborn we believe you can get those same trends you see in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar with textile waste and garments you already own! Since the trend forecast for Fall 2018 is out, I’m going to show you how you can do that with a few simple “closet updates.”
The Knot Trend
I have been seeing this trend E V E R Y W H E R E. From the streets of New York to celebrities: it’s everywhere
What I love about this trend is that it’s super casual, but it has a retro vibe. The truth is that it’s so versatile that there’s nothing you can’t pair it with. You can throw on a leather jacket with some distressed jeans and you’ll have a B.A. look (gotta keep it PG). You can pair it with some embroidered denim, and you’ll have a romantic vibe.
It’s a great transition-to-autumn piece. Instead of paying for one of these, you can make one from your own oversized t-shirts (or one from the thrift store). I got mine from the thrift store. It was simple to make. I used this tutorial below from clonesnclown.wordpress.com.
DENIM DENIM DENIM
Denim is still all the rage. From denim rompers to denim shoes to unique ways of decorating jeans, denim is alive and thriving in the fashion world. A denim skirt is one of these ways. I gasp when people will pay upward to $100 for one of these because there are so many forlorn, cute denim skirts that are in the thrift stores that no one is wearing.
I mean…they might be a tad long, but it’s ludicrously easy to cut one up and make into the length you desire. Here’s what I did.
All you have to do is mark with a marker or tailor’s chalk (if you’re fancy) and cut! I did mine a little rough at the edge for that blogger inspired look.
For a denim skirt as a transitional piece, I paired this with a chunky sweater, some suede booties, and an iced latte to complete the look.
How Reborn Can Update Your Closet
Not a fan of skirts? Not creative at all? Can’t use scissors? Girl, I gotchu. Here’s what we can do for you. Reborn can update your denim for you. How?
We can distress them and make them look edgy. We can also add a fabric cuff. The fabric cuff is great if your jeans tend to pool around your ankles (raise a hand if you’re a short girl). Keep your eyes open for our newest denim update–embroidery. Coming very soon.
Also, little known fact, but we can do custom orders! You want something special done with your old denim and garments? Email us!
